Security Studies New Faces Conference

Last Friday, I had the opportunity to present at the Triangle Institute for Security Studies as a participant in their New Faces Conference. It was an amazing experience in which I met some very intelligent and talented fellow doctoral candidates working on security oriented research projects. We all received valuable feedback on our work from generous and experienced scholars in this field in addition to a large interdisciplinary audience of local academics, military professionals, and the general public. My discussant, Mark Crescenzi, a Political Science professor at UNC-Chapel Hill, was incredibly gracious about receiving the final version of my work on Wednesday night (terrible, I know, but I wanted to maximize my research results as my project was the least developed of the participants) and offered some very helpful suggestions for moving forward with my dissertation. If anyone reading this has the opportunity to attend or participate in this conference, I could not recommend it more highly. You can read more about the participants and their research here.
